Bake Off sweepstake
It’s Bake Off season!
Who doesn’t love it when some kind soul brings in cakes for the staff room? If you love a break-time bake, then we have just the FUNdraiser for you!
The new season of The Great British Bake Off starts on Tuesday 13th of September, and we’re here for it! We invite you to host your own Bake-Off-themed fundraiser in your school to raise money for fellow education staff.
What are the rules?
Take on our Bake-Off-themed sweepstake and get your colleagues to pay £4.00 to pick a baker from the list of 2022 GBBO candidates. Each week, a baker is voted off the show, and the colleague who has that baker brings in their own bake for the staffroom (make it more of a challenge and get them to bake from that week’s theme!).
The person with the winning baker at the end of the series will receive half the funds, and the rest is donated to Education Support to help the growing demand to provide mental health and financial support to education staff.
How to host your own sweepstake:
- Get in touch with us by emailing fundraising@edsupport.org.uk to receive your free fundraising poster
- Put the word out! Send round an email or download our poster and pop in details on how fellow staff can get involved.
- Collect donations and decide on the sweepstake split. You must decide how the money will be split prior to finalising the details of your sweepstake – whether the suggested £4 entry is split 50/50 between Education Support and the winner, or however you choose.
- Pair sweepstake participants with their 2022 bakers, so they know who they’ll be cheering on! You can use this free generator to randomly pair bakers with sweepstake participants, or pick the contestant names out of a bucket the old-fashioned way!
- Tune in to Bake Off every Tuesday evening at 8, with first episode to air on Tuesday 13th September 2022.
- We recommend sending a staff update (with GBBO spoiler alert in subject line – we know everyone hates a spoiler!) to all involved with who left the tent, and the theme of the week that they baked for. It’s up to your Bake Off team to decide whether or not the losing forfeit is to bake something from that week, bake their own masterpiece or bring in something shop-bought.

Sweepstake guidelines
- The entry price must be the same for all participants.
- You need to decide before hosting your competition if the entry money will be split between the winner and Education Support. Whichever approach you take, participants must be informed before entering and the host must not profit (so funds will need to be donated).
- Participants in your school sweepstake must all be employed to work for the same location
- You must not sell entry door-to-door or on the street
