Jane's story - grants for teachers and education staff

Jane’s story

Our grants team is currently receiving a high number of applications from supply teachers and term-time only staff who desperately need help paying for food and rent.

Here is Jane’s* story:

“I took on a post as a deputy head of an autistic school at the start of February 2020. I was being paid a daily rate (supply for leadership) and paid weekly. When the schools were closed due to coronavirus, I was told I was not needed anymore. This came with no warning, nothing.

“My husband is a self-employed musician working in schools and venues. So all of his work has now stopped too. So we now have no income coming in and I am frantic with worry.

“We have always been employed and this has never happened to either of us before”.

Jane contacted the Education Support Grants Team in dire straits. Fortunately we were able to award funds for essential costs, a food voucher for this family of four and two months’ council tax.

Can you help?

We were able to give this family £650 when they needed us the most only due to the generosity of our supporters.

Are you able to give a gift at this difficult time to help families like Janes? If you can please donate online. Thank you so much.
