From a young age, I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. I love the connections we form with children, and seeing firsthand how that bond influences their learning journey is incredibly rewarding. When pupils feel supported and understood, their outcomes improve and that’s something I find fulfilling to see.
During a difficult period, my Union recommended the Education Support helpline, and it was exactly what I needed. From the first moment, I was speaking directly with a qualified counsellor - no triage process, no long wait times - just someone immediately ready to understand what I was going through. They validated my feelings at every stage and made me feel listened too.
Speaking with someone who’d never met me, yet approached our conversation without prejudice or judgement, was powerful. I can't express how much that meant to me.
What stood out most was that at the end of the call, they reminded me they’re always there if I need them. Knowing I didn’t have to face my worries alone and having someone at the other end of the phone has been incredibly helpful.
My message to anyone who’s struggling: just pick up the phone and call the helpline. You have nothing to lose and so much to gain. As a Union Rep, I often recommend Education Support’s emotional support helpline to my colleagues and school.
