Lessons in behaviour management

24th August 2020

“The key to success is how you promote good behaviour.”

Two teachers talk about the techniques they use to promote good behaviour in the classroom. They emphasise the importance of making clear the standard of behaviour that is expected of students and of praising that behaviour.

They also talk about giving children ownership of their behaviour and allowing them to take part in defining an agreed set of consequences for behaviour that fails to live up to the expected standard. Both teachers have found that such techniques relieve the stress of dealing with and sanctioning poor behaviour, making a teacher’s life more enjoyable and productive.

Here’s a taster of the new film. To watch the full version go to the Teacher Support section of the BBC Teach website.

This new film, part of the BBC Teach support resources, follows on from the recent film where teachers their thoughts on getting through the difficult times when they almost quit the profession.
