Dafydd* took part in six professional supervision sessions, offered as part of our Staff Wellbeing Service, which is funded by Welsh Government, at no cost to staff.
Here is how it helped:
The six professional supervision sessions I took part in as part of the Staff Wellbeing Service in Wales have been invaluable to me.
I was feeling overwhelmed when I initially met with my supervisor. They helped me to see the wood for the trees. They encouraged me to be kinder to myself and helped me develop new strategies to improve my wellbeing.
The strategies we discussed during the sessions allowed me to set boundaries in terms of the demands I place on myself and the demands placed on me by others in school.

I know there will always be challenges we come across as school leaders. But the work we have done together has reinforced the message that it is important to look after yourself, as you will not be able to help and support those around you when you are facing burnout yourself.
As a result of our professional supervision sessions, I feel positive that I have a sustainable plan in place to look after my own wellbeing and to achieve a much needed work-life balance. I also know that if things don't go to plan it is not the end of the world!
Thank you for everything! For always listening without judgement and giving me space to reflect.
