School leaders tell us why they use our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to boost staff wellbeing and effectiveness.
As we start 2022 teachers and education staff are facing fresh challenges. School leaders often ask us how they can support their staff as both professionals and people.
Our EAP is a package of support that schools can use to provide staff with confidential emotional and practical help. With a simple phone call, a range of support can be accessed at home or school, at a time convenient to them. We asked school leaders what they love about the service.
Great support, just when staff need it
School and education staff can access confidential help 24/7 from a sympathetic and empathetic counsellor.
"The quality of the counsellors on the phone and the service itself was supportive, empathetic and informative with a clear consideration to the person using the service."
Robert, Assistant Head
Knowing that support is at hand helps staff feel supported on a day-to-day basis and gives leaders a sense of security.
"There is a feeling that it’s available for everybody and they can get support for all kinds of daily issues. The real benefit is that it has produced a feeling of wellbeing around the school."
Heather, Headteacher
“Staff appreciate having support available because personal problems do sometimes have an impact on work."Barry, Headteacher
More than just counselling
The EAP includes a fantastic counselling service, but is also much more. It’s a service that is tailored to the individual. Counsellors help staff access a range of help, from mindfulness and CBT sessions, to line management and coaching support. In addition they can benefit from information on a range of common challenges including elder care and financial and legal information.
"Staff appreciate having support available because personal problems do sometimes have an impact on work."
Barry, Headteacher
"We all need a bit of extra help sometimes and I think it reflects really well on us as a school that we offer it, and that people are comfortable taking up that offer. It means they aren’t afraid to use it and trust the support available."
Louise, Assistant Head
Education Support knows teachers and school staff
We are the only UK charity focusing on the mental health and wellbeing of education staff. Our EAP is managed with our mission of improving the mental health of teachers and education staff in mind.
“Because Education Support is not-for-profit you feel as though they are focused on you. That matters a lot."
Barry, Headteacher
"Communication from Education Support has been outstanding. From a leadership point of view, the data on numbers of users is clear and informative."
Robert, Assistant Head
We offer the best possible support for all your staff - with practical and emotional help just a call away. When you put our EAP in place and tell staff about it, the benefits of improved staff wellbeing will be felt throughout your school.
"It’s a cost effective way of offering good quality employee support and advice which enhances an organisation's welfare and wellbeing support for staff."
Jenny, Head of HR and CPD
