Strides Against Stress success!

Getting our bodies moving, and enjoying some fresh air, can have a lasting positive impact on our mental health. So it was a great fit for us to organise a fundraising event that focused on just that!

Strides Against Stress took place in April (Stress Awareness Month), and the aim was to run or walk 30 miles in 30 days.

This was our very first virtual fundraising challenge so we were delighted that 1039 people signed up.

We can  now announce that our Striders have raised… *drumroll*

£50,000+ for mental health services for educators!

To put this into perspective, £50,000 could fund our 24/7 counselling helpline for 72 days, enabling us to answer roughly 1,806 calls from educators at times of crisis.

Working in education during the pandemic has come at a huge personal cost to many educators; they need our services now more than ever. So thank you so much to all our participants and their wonderful donors.

We loved following your progress and seeing all your Instagram and Twitter posts – you found some incredible beauty spots to rack up the distance! We’re in awe of the dozen or so participants who went the extra mile (or try 170…) and managed over 200 miles each!

We’re really pleased that:

  • 97% of participants enjoyed the challenge
  • 60% of participants found that it positively impacted on their mental health
  • 87% would take part again next year…

The Strides Against Stress challenge will be back in April 2022… watch this space!
